What BIM coordination actually involves

Clash detection finds the conflicts. Coordination is the work of resolving them: agreeing who moves, updating the models, re-running the tests, and recording the decision so it is not re-litigated three weeks later. We do that work as an extension of your team, on your standards and in your file structure.

How we run it

• Federate the models. We assemble the architectural, structural and MEP models into a single coordinated model, aligned to your shared coordinate system and level naming.
• Run the tests. Clash tests are set up by discipline pair and by system, with tolerances you set, so the report lists real conflicts rather than thousands of nuisance hits.
• Triage and assign. Every clash is grouped, prioritised and assigned to the discipline that should resolve it, with a proposed resolution where we can offer one.
• Resolve and re-test. We make the agreed model changes within our scope, re-run the tests, and confirm the conflict is closed.
• Report and track. Issues are tracked through to closure and reported in a format your team can take straight into a coordination meeting.

Where it fits in your programme

Coordination is most valuable before drawings are issued for construction, when a conflict still costs a model change rather than a site instruction. We typically join at the point the disciplines first have modelled content to compare, and run cycles through to sign-off. Where you have already started, we can pick up an existing model set and take over the coordination cycle.
